New Secretary Of State For Communities And Local Government: Greg Clark

Recommended Posts

"When the South-East Plan threatened to foist 6,000 new homes on the constituency of Tunbridge Wells, its elected representative lashed out. “One of the delights of our area is that there is scarcely a neighbourhood that is not within a short walk of the green fields that surrounds us,” he fumed. Who was that valiant MP? The self-same Greg Clark who now excoriates conservationists for their nihilism. No wonder the residents are more than usually disgusted."

Mark Francois has been appointed Minister of State for Communities and Local Government.

Brandon Lewis has been removed from the DCLG web page so I assume that Francois has taken his role.

Brandon Lewis's mugshot has reappeared on the DCLG web page and he's currently still listed as Minister of State for Housing and Planning at the DCLG.

The proposed role for Mark Francois isn't yet clear.

Eric Pickles has gone.

Two pieces of particularly good news within a week. Balls, then Pickles, perhaps the very worst in both parties.

Here's hoping Clark is a big improvement.

It is an odd thing. Planners have words for people who live in the environment; "Vulnable" "Deprived", "Homeless". The rest of soceity just call them tramps. We recognise that homlessness is a major cause of ill health and deprivation, yet planners try and find every excuse to prevent building.

In reality, the so called planning system has let down the people it is supposed to serve.

Clark sacked already?

Brandon (the builder) Lewis seems to be back in the job.

Greg Clark is Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (Cabinet Minister in charge of DCLG).

Brandon Lewis is Minister of State for Housing and Planning at DCLG.

Mark Francois has also been appointed Minister of State at DCLG, but his responsibilities have not yet been announced.

Two other DCLG appointments today:

Marcus Jones - Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Local Government)

James Wharton - Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for the Northern Powerhouse)

[That last one isn't a joke.]

Alan Sugar has resigned from the Labour party apparently because of its shift to the left.

Not because it lost the election. He must have just noticed the policies after the votes came in.
