Not Turning The Tv On For The Next Week

Recommended Posts

Between the election and the new royal child... no TV for TMT for a week. Do you think a week will be long enough? I somehow doubt it.

Kate's job is done now - an heir and a spare. One more for luck?

It's been at least 8 months since I had my TV connected to 'live' TV.

I don't miss it in the slightest. YouTube and Netflix keep me entertained.

And HPC.

And internet porn.

I can't stand any of the election stuff - can't bear listening to any of their voices with all the cliches and 'let me be absolutely clear' and all that.

Ironically though I will be up half the night on Thursday watching the results come in - I alway do - it's the one bit I enjoy. A nice little zizz on the sofa from say 10 to 11 will see me through to at least 3 am.

As for the royal baby, what is it with all these nutters camping out outside the hospital for days on end? Have none of them got jobs or anything else to do? I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two caught out on Saints and Scroungers in future - Ms X who was supposed to be completely incapacitated, unable to walk more than 3 yards, claiming disability benefit for the past 15 years...

Yes, for once I may stay up and see what happens.

Leave it off, you wont miss it. I used to habitually have the tv on and have it chattering away in the background but now I've completely got out of the habit of turning it on and only do so to watch a downloaded movie or something. Only problem is I now find it really irritating when at someone elses house and they have the TV on just for the sake of it.

And dont worry about being out of touch - if anything important happens you can always read about it on HPC B)

The irony is, that the three main parties being so disappointing this time is making the outcome interesting. Hopefully some big names will lose their seats.

I am sure the new Princess will be photographed in a black head to toe baby gown - about the time that she is an adult the UK will probably be a fully paid up member of ISIS.

Ooh, ooh, let's do names:

Beyoncé or maybe Fatima?

Perhaps Sponging Parasite?

.

Hope not as I have a tenner riding on the Royal Princess being called Mavis.

Mark you my bet on their first kid being called Elvis did not turn out well.

Pffffft. Try turning off internet access for a week and see how well you last.

Good point! I only occasionally watch tv programmes never more than 2-3 hours per week and many weeks zero. I don't watch films or anything else either.

However I'm on the internet several hours per day most days, usually evenings, for entertainment or whatever. I think I and many people would struggle to turn off internet access for week!

I've got a tenner on another, hastily swept under the carpet, weird nurse suicide.

It's almost essential now!

Buying stuff online saves all that travelling to shops. Email, marvellous way to keep in contact, and get spammed! Every email from somewhere I bought some stuff once from, goes straight into the SPAM bin after I've got the goods!

Broadcast TV is mostly irrelevant to most people now, and is late for it's own funeral!

I predict she will be named Mildred.

Licence savings aside ditching live TV is a very good move. As you only watch things when you want to I don't slump in front of a screen until 8 or so, the rest of the day it is resolutely off and pushed out of the way.

I am reminded of how much I dislike "on all the time" TV when I emerge from my morning shower in a hotel to find my gf has turned it on and I am subject to the early morning Emmerdale / Corrie omnibus on ITV2. And the only way to stop this is to not have one, so I don't.

I wouldn't have one again even if the licence was abolished.
