Ott Television Coverage

Recommended Posts

I awoke at 8am this morning & flicked on SKY TV News. There in all it's glory was the reporting on the Oil Depot explosion. Thankfully, as i far as i know, no fatalaties and some minor injuries. Thank god for that.

But, as the coverage went on it got really desperate. Example:

Interviewer: What did you hear & see?

Man 1: A large explosion & huge fire

Interviewer: What did you hear & see?

Man 2: A large explosion & huge fire

Interviewer: What did you hear & see?

Man 3: A large explosion & huge fire

Interviewer: What did you hear & see?

Dog: Rufff ruff (i made that one up)

Etc, Etc Ad infinitum!

They were getting the same vapid answers from everyone they spoke to. Desperate for a decent slant on the story i suppose. It's 12.35 now & it's still on and it seems obvious it's a big "non-story" disaster. No deaths so no memorial services for Tony & Liz and no comments along the lines of:

"The people of this area just want to be left alone to rebuild their lives"

I feel sorry for people who've sat in front of the telly for hours watching the same pictures of a big black plume of smoke with odd flickering flame thrown in.

I'm off to down.Byeeeeeee!

The amusing one was the chav interview on News24:

"Yeah, I was woken up by my girlfriend's mum so I jumped in my XR2 and bombed down to the Dixon's carpark to see what was going on. There was a large explosion and a huge fire."

Classy news source.
