A repeat, on just now, but is repeated on HD & will be available on iPlayer (I think).

Not directly HPC related, but the first episode (Deptford) was absolutely fascinating. It demonstrated, as ever, the iron law of unintended consequences & the folly of grand schemes - especially when imposed on people from above, even with the best of intentions. A lot of unbiased (I think) social comment too, & some wonderful (& not so wonderful - & all shades inbetween) characters.

Whatever else, it certainly makes you think there must be a better way to run a housing policy. And we still haven't found one.

did not realise this was a repeat - explains why the house in Albery street Deptford was ONLY going for 795K (being sold by the 'posh' EA) - would probably be £1m plus by now. :o

it was so sad in a way that all the working class occupants who lived in a true neighbourhood environment had been moved out in the name of progess and houses that could have been brouight back to use were destroyed. In fact a google earth of the area shows a big open space on Reginald Road where houses once stood.

shameful decisions back in the 60s.

the bad news - this is what £1m buys you in Albury street

the good news - it has been REDUCED!
