Will!

Cars, Watches And... Toasters.

Recommended Posts

A woman I work with shared the fascinating insight the other day that women judge men by their cars, watches and toasters. Cars and watches are obvious, but toasters is a new one to me. In the interests of science, I now want to find out what toaster makes a man most desirable to the opposite sex.

PS Currently I don't own a car, a watch or a toaster. I am hoping this makes me an enigmatic man of mystery.

PPS Apparently kettles are of no consequence.

I dont own a car or watch. My toaster is awesome, but my gf bought me it.

Trying to upgrade you to desirable boyfriend at lowest cost to herself.

How about a Dualit? Truly the King of Toasters!

If she's judging you by your toaster, surely that is too late to apply judgement?

Or do some people take their toasters out with them on Saturday night?

Did she know this when listing her criteria?

I told her immediately afterwards. She looked at me with utter bafflement / disdain.

How about a Dualit? Truly the King of Toasters!

There was a Dualit in the kitchen of my hall when I was a student. It looked the business, with heavy-duty stainless steel and a manly knob for lifting the toast out, but was in fact rubbish, because the heating element often broke resulting in several minutes of anticipation before the disappointment of limp, untoasted bread.

As for judging men by their toasters, now I come to think about it...

I've got a car, but no watch and no toaster. Such a loser.

Same, or a house in which to put a toaster.

I suppose I could put it in the van, but the fan heater I use to defrost it might get jealous.

My toaster came with the house, I don't actually think I've ever used it as I make my own bread and prefer it untoasted.

She wouldn't be interested in me then - dusty, second hand, and probably doesn't even work properly

Re women who judge men by their cars, I once read an article about a very successful bloke with his own business who had so little time for socialising, he tried a dating agency. He didn't want to advertise his financial status so he left his own expensive car at home and used an ordinary one from his business car pool.

The date went well, but the woman told the agency person afterwards that although she had liked X a lot, she wouldn't be seeing him again since she couldn't handle having a boyfriend with an ordinary car.

I later worked a similar episode into a successful novel. I had a minor-character bitch who needed her comeuppance - and I made sure she found out her mistake afterwards!

I've never found women to be interested in my car, as long as it goes, and she doesn't have to push it!

I personally judge a man by his coffee maker, the quality of his coffee and his... well, use your imagination. ;)

Oh, and I have a Bosch toaster.

I like to think women judge me by the size of my telescope.

(It's an 8" dobsonian reflector, in case you were wondering)

I think many women would rather look up a telescope, rather than hearing about your gearbox, what time it is and toast!! For the Non-stromomers here, I would like to point out that 8 inches refers to the diameter. I'm only a 6 incher myself!
