Oh Ffs - Brown Wants 'public-Private' Oil Fields

Recommended Posts

Brown is an un-reconstituted Marxist

From his student days onwards he has been totally devoted to Marx's 'Crisis of Capitalism' and he will do anything to bring it about.

Truly a dangerous man who after the Treason of Lisbon should have had his head stuck on a spike on London Bridge if we were still traditional about such matters.

The Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath MP, who is stepping down from Westminster at May's election, also wants to see young people encouraged to work in hi-tech medical, environmental and engineering jobs as traditional manufacturing work continues to decline.

Mr Brown said: "In 10 years' time, manufacturing - once 40% of the Scottish economy - will harbour just 7% of Scottish jobs.

"We must aim to create high-quality, well-paying, hi-tech, secure jobs based around medical, information and environmental technologies and I will set out a plan to do so.

White Heat Of Technology (WHOT) - The Sequel.

He's another one who wants to encourage young people to go into technology but neither he nor seemingly his family have been that keen to go into that line of work.

"This is the era of fast-moving change which creates massive insecurity and a demand from people that we shelter, insulate and protect them from alienating and all-pervasive change."

So that's what all the solar panel energy, free boilers, house insulation and double glazing etc etc etc cold call spam scam telephone calls have been about.

I had to look up crisis theory, very interesting:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crisis_theory

In Marx's words, "The real barrier of capitalist production is capital itself".[3]
These systemic factors include the classical 3:
Full employment profit squeeze. Capital accumulation can pull up the demand for labor power, raising wages. If wages rise "too high," it hurts the rate of profit, causing a recession.
The tendency of the rate of profit to fall. The accumulation of capital, the general advancement of techniques and scale of production, and the inexorable trend to oligopoly by the victors of capitalist market competition, all involve a general tendency for the degree of capital intensity, i.e., the "organic composition of capital" of production to rise. All else constant, this is claimed to lead to a fall in the rate of profit, which would slow down accumulation.
Overproduction. If the capitalists win the class struggle to push wages down and labor effort up, raising the rate of surplus value, then a capitalist economy faces regular problems of excess producer supply and thus inadequate aggregate demand.

I think the point is that it is Capitalism which created the conditions for these mass murders to flourish. Marx predicted Capitalism's collapse he didn't create Communism or any other ism.

That was Marxism-Leninism wasn't it?

I'm no expert but Marx was pretty spot-on with figuring out was the problems of capitalism were. IIRC his solution to some of the ills of capitalism included a system based on cooperative ownership of the means of production (a bit like the John Lewis partnership) with distribution based on one's contribution. Thus getting rid of the 1%, the trouble is human nature, in Russia and China one group of 1%'ers was replaced by another. Until we something can be done about human nature there will always be a 1 or 2 or 3% at the top, whether it's through ancestral wealth, screwing over your fellow man or violence.

Marxist? Righto, but he does seem to be a buy high/sell low-ist. Co-ownership and co-investment are not the same thing. If the private sector can do better in financial viability terms then offer rolling leases. If they're not interested it's not about offering any better short-term viability.

Christianity is still way ahead of it.

The most dangerous people are those with charisma and something interesting to say. Marx was probably second only to Christ[1] in our history[2], though the prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) seems to be advancing towards that pantheon.

[1] Or perhaps that should be St Paul, the psychopath who first[3] started using the name of Christ for evil purposes.

[2] Setting aside the question of whether any identifiable individual could be blamed for followers of the Old Testament and Torah.

[3] So far as we have any evidence.

Forget it. The UK is bankrupt already. The country can no more afford to keep uncommercial oil fields open than it can put a man on Mars.
