300 flats to be built for rent in Walthamstow;

Edit: Just taken a look at properties to rent in Walthamstow on Rightmove. There are currently 341 across all sizes. 300 will be added to the mix. Interesting times.

300 more households to get a place of their own, at whatever price the market[1] will bear.

But 300 in total is a drop in the ocean where 341 are available at a snapshot time. Even if not all of the 341 are for real.

I daresay there are others ...

Anything that adds to the availability of rental housing is good, even better if it is big institutional investors who look after their properties and won't turf you out because they want to sell.

Agree completely. And the location sounds promising for it too: lots of demand for London, without the price premium of "prime".

What this country could really do with is someone to do for rental flats what Premier Inns have done for hotels. A name you can rely on for a basic but reliable deal, as an alternative to pot-luck with a random landlord and agent.
