How Desperate Is Ed Miliband To Bring Back Prescott?

Recommended Posts

He's a proper Socialist, as seen in Soviet-era Russia or pre-Thatcher Britain.

Houses? We plan them centrally. Pull down old ones where people live and put up new ones noone wants.

I thought in prescotts case with 'Pathfinder', they just pull them down (or let them rot), then forget to put the new ones up.

I remember Prescotts original 'integrated transport' thingy as well...that worked out.

They like prescott because he either has dirt on someone, or for some unexplained reason, the knuckledragging class of voter that makes up most labour areas up North think 'hes one of us'

Sure isnt because he ever actually achieved anything policy wise...not that I ever got the idea he wanted to. He seemed quite happy just taking his salary and expenses, shouting tory this that and the other and buggering off to do whatever it is he does (play bowls? meet his mistress?) the rest of the time.

This will probably be down to focus groups telling them something like:

- Older working class voters in the north of England don't like the Shadow Cabinet because it's full of GenX PPE Spad types. They are thinking of voting UKIP.

- These voters like Prescott because he looks and sounds like them.

They have to appeal to many different electorates. Prescott is aimed at a very traditional uneducated working class that was Labour's roots.

AIUI his big achievement in government was to keep the peace between Blair and Brown so neither murdered the other.

Yes, never ceases to amaze me how people like Farage despite himself. He always looks like he's trying to be lord of the (tory) manor or like he's been to the foxhunt or something...I would have thought that alone would turn off most northern/labour voters.

Ta, I was looking for an opportunity to 'bash' Farage today.

The story about Rozanne Duncan, summarily, expelled from UKIP

Farage quoted as saying:

"As I understand it she made some deeply racist comments and we acted immediately.

"I haven't seen the film but she is alleged, and she confirmed to us, that she had made a series of racist comments that is at odds with what we stand for."

So, another, "I don't need to find out the truth from the person before making a decision" scared, knee jerk politician. I won't be voting for him either now.

They are all frightened of the electorate and the media. Pussies.

In that vane, the appointment of Prescott is little different, a media sop to a 'constituency', rather than developing a policy that a constituency might or might not vote for.

They all need some balls, so long as it's not their surname.

Am I right in assuming the ghettos of tomorrow that are new build estates are lacking in drives due to Prescott's planning?

I always wonder if there was a fire how the fudge a fire engine would navigate the slalom of a Barrett estate without ploughing through some cars.

They even dig up the old claim that he is great at 'knocking heads together'. WTF?

Maybe they meant he is great at 'knocking houses down'.

Seems to be to be another sign of panic from Labour. Are UKIP doing well up north?

just an attempt to show their green credentils by recycling old rubbish

This is the scary picture for Labour:

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/local/teesvalley/stockton/11167650.Nigel_Farage_comes_to_town_to_spread_his_free_trade_and_patriotism_messages/?action=complain&cid=12694757

'Nigel Farage meets supporter Tommy Oliver in Yarm'

Ok its Yarm. The supported in question has travelled from Stockton - probably in a nicked car.

The Prescott thing is nuts.

Why not get him on board earlier FFS?

What a bunch of fcking idiots labour are - you could beleive if it was just Militwat but there are 100s of people involved with strategy.

And the job they come up for Prescoot - Two jags, ten dinners.

Climate Change FFS!!!!!!!!!

How di the meeting go?

'We need to reach out to potential UKIP + Green voters. We are bit short of people who did not go to publicschool.

Lets kill two bird with one stone and appoint Prescott as champion of the working man and the evironment!

Already lads, Im ready to be chained to McDonalds. Can you chain my near the counter.

Why not Community outreach?

It shows both the shallowness of the appointment and the level of interest in climate change and environment

Its kind of funny, that story. Its like shes saying she's a racist, but as she's trying not to be, she's not a racist.

Im not sure why she would even mention it, unless she's an A grade moron...which at councillor level isnt exactly rare.

Lot's of things at play with that lady. She's probably, just not very worldy, and, while not a moron, probably, also not the brightest penny in the barrel as a result.

I don't object to her airing her views, and she thinks she knows they are wrong.

The most damning was that she wouldn't go to a party if she knew she would have to sit next to a black person, which showed a blinkered attitude to learning and gaining life experiences.

On the other hand, I just don't value managers / leaders who draw conclusions without knowing the facts for themselves. So Farage took a tumble too IMO.

Very cringeworthy and she had to go, I see yet another UKIP programme on tonight I see. When are the ones on the other parties being aired?

The idea of Prescott being on the TV for the next few weeks to 'save' labour is so bad you have to laugh

Damn. Does anyone else see a resemblance to the great barroom bore who gets meeja coverage 'cos his mother's the queen?

From the whistle and titfer, he looks like some bloke promoting English Mustard Week or something.

We don't know what has gone before.

It wouldn't surprise me if Farage had told everyone in the party something like 'Don't make waves or you are out'.

With the media 'as it is', how did he know the waves were real without either seeing the film or talking to the person ?

Find out for yourself and then decide, unless you have a very good chain of command
