silver surfer
First you've got to ask if it's true? There have been a few news stories recently about phenomenal investment returns that then turned out to be fabrications. Second, in the unlikely event that it is true, you've got to look for evidence of skill or insight or some winning strategy rather than blind luck. Millions of people dabble in the financial markets, so you'd expect there to be a few dazzling success stories from simple random chance. Right now I'd be more than a bit sceptical! 200p
Sam has twin secrets. He has a trading program he has developed himself, which works on the ‘three-way bet’ system overseeing his multiple, continuing trades: if the market goes the wrong way on three successive bets, his planned trades are automatically reversed. So, if a price falls and Sam has gambled on it rising, he won’t continue to lose out.Read more: http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Meet-Plymouth-teenager-turned-2-000-21million/story-25950117-detail/story.html#ixzz3QKscDFKm Follow us: @heraldnewslive on Twitter | theplymouthherald on Facebook One big problem - if the market trends sideways - you make nothing, and it costs to put on trades. We have had a very good period of trending markets - falls in commodities, and falls in the Rouble. Plausible, but I remain sceptical.
Billy Ray Valentine
That article almost reads like something from The Daily Mash or Viz, got to be a wind up. He looks nothing like 18 for a start, more like 38!
spyguy
The orignal poster should liquidise everything he owns and give it to Sam to invest. Lets see who he made his money: 'trading across currency, stock and commodities markets'That's 3 major, very different markets, and he's trading across all of them an earning a return on capital of ..... 1000 times!!!!! In a year!!!!!!!!! Individuals have no business trading in forex and commodities. They are betting agianst larger organisations who have more capital and more knowledge - THEY WILL LOOSE EVERY SINGLE FCKING TIME. Do you know how much a prop trader earns? And how much capital is deployed? Here's a recent before + after: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2111468/Alex-Hope-Trader-23-blew-125-000-champagne-200-000-bar-round-gets-told-MUM.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2859404/Currency-trader-accused-Ponzi-scheme-dubbed-King-Popper-spraying-32-000-champagne-nightclub.html At bets (for him) he's just a Wlater Mitty. A worse, he's been suckered to front a scam.

If he's got a system then no wonder he's a billionaire. Am I right in thinking thesystem is: place a bet, if it goes wrong then go back in the Tardis and remove the bet? 200p
^ Good spot. Hehe. --- If anyone wants to read about a real trader, then read about Dan Zanger who holds the world record for the largest portfolio increase in 12 months in an 18 month period. He made that amount when the markets were in a bubble frenzy during the dot-com time. It's documented and independently verified. I won't reveal how much he made, as that would be a spoiler. Horridbloke
“I want to have £2billion by the time I am 50,” he said. So having grown his stake by four orders of magnitude in a year his big aim is to grow it by a further two orders in the next thirty or so years. That's a strangely unambitious goal. bovinedealer
I've no comment on the story, but plenty of people have increased their stakes many multiple times, any one who doesn't believe me should look up the seminal Market Wizards series about traders and investors who have done just that. If he genuinely is coining it in because of his foresight about how it all works, fair play to him and best of luck. There was once a formula which worked for a while...
