National House Building Council Housing Starts

Recommended Posts

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/uk-housing-starts-indicator-highest-since-2007-nhbc-000450199--sector.html

NHBC ( National House Building Council) starts have been released showing 145, 174 housing and appartments in 2014 (year on year rise). There seems to have a rush to get starts in final quarter. 2015 looks to be a slowing growth as head towards General Election.

Public sector starts numbers seemed to drop year on year.

Edit: it is a tad dissapointing to see private builders expect the numbers to drop in 2015.

I misread the title and OP - hoped it was that 145,174 council houses (or homes) were built in 2014. ;) If only! B)

That would certainly water down the demand for private rentals! :D

Considering expected future spending reviews I doubt councils will be in a financial position to expand council housing. I imagine they will be selling land and property assets to private developers who will build. Well they might build?

Daily Mail article does have some detail. 1.In the main bungalow registration has tanked again. They are effectively no longer built. 2. I am ignoring the Daily Mail header there is still a huge proportion of flats and marionette. I assume these are in London.
