Crabtree & Evelyn - Store Closures

Recommended Posts

A tragic loss to upmarket yummy mummy high streets everywhere

And a boost to Amazon/eBay

Guess the MILFs will just have to have their coffee mornings without stocking up on Molton Brown handwash now.

They filed for bankruptcy protection in 2009 and have since been sold to a new owner, now they are quietly starting to close stores, no mention of this in the press.

Shop assistant today: "We just can't afford the rent the landlord is asking..."

Bath

Shrewsbury

Wembley

Can't say I'm surprised - apart from at Christmas the Kingston shop is mostly empty. The stuff is very nice but it's terribly expensive - except in the post-Christmas sales. I picked up something half price for my sister the other week.

£10 for 500mL of body wash...

I'd expect the ingredients to include crushed tanzanite, magic dust from unicorns, and organic saffron.

Blimey, another Great British name exits the high street. Would you Crab and Eve it.

Crabtree & Evelyn is an American retailer of body and home products. It is wholly owned by Khuan Choo International Limited, a Hong Kong based investment company.

If it's owned by a Hong Kong company can't they just set up in Hong Kong/China and sell the stuff through the internet as cheap (but posh of course) tat.

Maybe that's the plan. It's not the same experience as going to the shop but it would be cheap and no extortionate UK rent, taxes and regulation etc.

They can build some flats where the shops were or maybe more charity shops.

My GF likes these shops.

It smells like walking in your Nan's knicker drawer.

Yes...nice smells, how you can know what smell you are buying from the internet.....anyone guess.
