"Nicholas Carlino, a director of London Investment Property Group, told an undercover Sunday Times reporter that he was making so much money snapping up homes that had been undervalued by the council and selling them on that he would ‘never have to work again’. The scheme was entirely legal."

So, about 1 in 3 in London are on depend mainly on benefits.

Just keep that in mind when they go on about London holding up the rest of the UK.

Then consider that the other 2//3 of London consist of the likes of the public sector, banks (most propped up by the state), BBC (less said).

Local government would have made more money in many cases by giving the tenant a 12k moving "grant" and then selling on the open market.

I find it hard to differentiate between someone living from benefits and someone living from the rents the benefits pay.....two of the same. ;)
