Bristol Bus Timetable Hacked By Terrorists

Recommended Posts

Not the most effective terrorist attack of all time: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/terrorism-in-the-uk/11321499/Bristol-bus-timetable-hacked-by-terrorists.html

Muslim extremists planning to disrupt global travel in the Western world have hacked into the Bristol bus timetable instead......It is believed the cyber terrorists thought the website was for a more influential website promoting travel around the Western world - not the West Country.

so are they planning to hack it co-ordinating with their fellow Sony Extremists, or have they hacked it already and blown the entire show?

will the buses know or care?

Or is it another inside job to earn time off for the workers?

Far more probable is this: I checked the website, took 5 seconds to find that it's based on Drupal software, which has a long history of bugs and vulnerabilties.

Heck, just looking at the Drupal site, in 2014 they've identified various issues; 2 are rated "Highly Critical".

One of these was responsible for "millions of websites" going down in October.

So I'm ready to bet that this Bristol company simply did not keep on top of keeping their software secure.

Just as likely the Bristol Bus company has got a film coming out they need to raise awareness of or they're planning to drive some buses around Argentina with a Falklands referencing numberplate.

It's Wordpress, not Drupal.

Heh.

You know the word "terrorist" has become meaningless when they apply to a minor[1] hack on a low-value[2] website.

[1] Whose sensitive or financial details got compromised?

[2] Whose high-value non-public information was ever there in the first place?

[edit to add] It's more Clouseau than 007.

It's actually cheaper for me to borrow a tractor, and use "pink diesel" to get to Bristol!
