Sp Ad Central - Cam Has 27 Advisers, Clegg 20

Recommended Posts

The coalition agreement says 'We will put a limit on the number of Special Advisers'

Cameron made great store of cutting numbers after the 2010 election, and indeed did cut the numbers back from 80ish to 60ish. Since then, things have gone awry and Spad numbers are now over 100.

Cameron and Clegg between them account for almost half that number with 27 and 20 respectively.

I'm not a fan of Cameron, this is further evidence of his flaws in my view. Quite apart the broken promise on Spad numbers, to require such numbers of advisers strengthens my view of him as someone with poor judgement and a lack of ambition or conviction. Political putty, in essence.

I ought to say that having trusted impartial advisers on topics of importance is clearly desireable; partisan bag carriers are not in tge national interest. It makes a mockery of civil service impartiality to have such numbers of people on the public payroll.

Someone has to represent them on social media and forums such as this and only well paid "partisan bag carriers" can be relied on to toe the party line.

You're even more cynical than me ! (Congrats..?) I'd have thought forum trollers would be misguided members doing it for nothing in the main.

Easy to see why Cam gets into such pickles when he has these bods dreaming up PR stunts for him.

I'd love to know the qualifications of each of these individuals which makes their advise to the most senior members of the Govt indispensible.
