Leveraged Investments

Recommended Posts

The attraction of buy to let is that with a small amount of capital, you can participate in the larger movements of the market - i.e. start off with £30,000 as a deposit on a £200,000 mortgage, and if your flat goes up by a modest 15%, so you sell your flat for £230,000, you now have £60,000.

Like everyone else, I don't fancy the housing market at the moment, but I was wondering if there's a way of getting the same leverage on any other investment? i.e. can you get a mortgage against a stock?

I'm not saying it would necessarily be wise to, but are there ways of doing it?
