The You-said-sipps-would-not-make-a-difference Myth Debunked

Recommended Posts

I never posted about SIPPS but from reading others not so hysterical views I came to my own conclusion. SIPPS could cause HPI to splutter along at it's current levels. A correction was still inevitable due to affordability.

It should all roll out faster now.

I have to say that I was going to look into a SIPPS property, and I'm not exactly Mr Moneybags so the gearing / tax breaks were bound to have had an effect on prices. Won't now, though.

Can only have a downward effect: more people either (i) not buying or (ii) paying less.

My main gripe v SIPPS is that it was being mis-sold from day one. Hardly anyone is wealthy enough to afford it in enough numbers to make any damage and even if you could why put that kind of wealth into an asset that is unlikely to grow in value much? Unless as an investor you are in it for  the long term
