Good Luck To The Catalonians!

Heh, hardly a bid for freedom (they want to remain part of the EU) but a sure fire step along the Yugoslavia or Ukraine scenarios. The end result is to end up as an attempt to kill Spain (made up of other regions like the Basque Country, Galicia, Andalucia etc).

If the Catalans really wanted a peaceful road to separation from Spain (albeit one that would take 30 or 40 years), they'd continue negotiating extra powers to their autonomous government, whilst at the same time see Spain's finanical power transferred over more to Brussels. Instead of which they're whingeing that they think they subsidise lazy southerners (their perception), and want a nasty quick rupture...
