Cameron Wants "asian" Pm

Recommended Posts

I know this is to appease "diverse" voters but it doesn't half make my blood boil.

According to the latest projections, the proportion of minority groups living in Britain will rise from 10% in 2006 to 40% by 2050.

Britain will therefore become the world's most ethnically diverse countries.

Declining birth rates among Britons and increased migration are the two main factors for changing demographics in UK.

According to the data, around a fifth of people in the UK are non-white or non-British. This is expected to rise to 25% by 2025, 335 by 2040 and reach up to 38% by 2050. In England and Wales, 25% of births are already to foreign-born mothers.

He added: "When I hear those terms Your Honour, Brigadier General, Right Honourable, more often I want to hear it followed by a British-Asian name.

"And yes, one day I want to hear that title prime minister, followed by a British-Asian name."

In a jokey reference to Mr Javid, he added: "Just not immediately, if that's OK by you."

There are currently 29 ethnic minority MPs serving in Parliament. Of these 29, 14 are from South Asia.
Let's break it down to percentages.
There are 650 seats in the House of Commons. Ethnic minorities make up 4.5% of these seats.
However, in Britain ethnic minorities make up 20% of the population.

Probably should be careful for what he wishes for. Pakistani's have long been actually 'over represented' on the local govt level...to the detriment of other minority groups (well, if you believe the 'to represent someone you have to look like them' bs)

Since we no longer have totally Norman or Celtic descended leaders, I don't see this point? If someone is born in the UK, and has the political views that allow them to be elected by British public and political parties, they are as much "British" as anyone else posting here ie an accident of birth. Do we call Boris Johnson a Turkish leader, or Michael Portillo a Spanish leader?

How about "I want the best PM for this country, regardless of their racial or geographical origin"?

Surely the best person for the job of PM is someone with a long term interest in the well-being of the country, and not someone who self-identifies as foreign.

I wonder how many Spanish people would be in favour of electing a British leader?
