Executive Sadman
Abroad? Where exactly? Probably not the US...as their property taxes are higher than the proposed mansion tax (except in flyover country) Probably not Dubai, as the air-con bills are higher than the mansion tax. So where u goin old griffy boy?...Switzerland with phil collins and his train sets? I must admit, I never anticipated voting labour...but if it gets rid of him AND glenda jackson, I may just have to do it.
byron78
Why should we care if he leaves? He'd be replaced on TV and therefore so would his income tax.
wherebee
Yet another luvvie who wants money from the money tree for all sorts of projects he supports, but as soon as he has to put a hand in his own pocket, it's sooooooo unfaaaaaiiirrrrrrr. Shame - I had thought he had a brain. Edited November 4, 2014 by wherebee
gf3
Andrew Lloyd Webber is going to leave if Labour win as well. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/was-ever-a-man-so-unloved-1279576.html Oh sorry that article is dated 1997
winkie
Any excuse......so what anyway, people move money about all the time to save on tax...it is called tax avoidance, why people have bought mansions here to avoid tax from elsewhere....easy come easy go. Billy soy
There are always celebrities that say they will leave if labour get in and they almost always never leave when it happens.

Corruption
But he will come back and make money here, and no doubt rent his houses out. Its going to be a couple of grand a year hardly much for someone as devastatingly funny as him.

Bloo Loo
thousands of Londoners will leave too....even a modest maisonette is a mansion in London.

Drone 19830312
Incentivising people to leave is the point. Other people are commuting for miles, staying away from their families, or living in hovels, just to get access to the London job-market. So if you think that living in London isn't worth a few thousand quid a year, then simply ****** off.
gf3
I wouldn't be surprised if he has cost him self more that the mansion tax with this statement. If I heard he was doing something locally I may have gone to see him. I am less inclined now.

To be honest the article was probably made up based on complete fiction or an offhand comment made taken completely out of context. The media is a complete sham. Believe what the gossipy rags tell you at your peril. They only write what they think people want to read. They are only in it for the money. Journalistic integrity doesn't seem to exist. Rain'ard
Ah, a luvvie and his temper tantrum. I bet he normally voted Labour as well. Can't have them using his money, only other (little) peoples money will do to implement the socialist ideal. Bless. As I understand it. You imply that a labour supporter who becomes offended by a policy that effects him personally, hypoctically takes a Tory point of view condems himself as a hypocrit. Do we conclude then he is ultimately slimy. But nature or choice? Lets not forget that GRJ comes from an Oxbridge background
Corruption
If Labour win how many people seriously think the mansion tax would be implemented without loopholes? They already have, it involves politicians 2nd homes being exempt. If anyone in the Labour Party had an ounce of common sense all theyd have done is created a few new bands for the council tax. gf3
Nasty selfish money grubbing man. I'm sure most of his equity will have been created by the community via local improvements and community monetary policy. And telly tax
