davidg
France does not have a debt problem, You are presumably not talking about the France that is just 22 miles off the UK's south coast but another France, in another universe somewhere? France has not run a balanced budget since 1973. It has just passed the two trillion euros in public debt mark. It has a lower deficit than the UK because, unlike the UK, they actually put austerity in place in the form of tax hikes. This has flat-lined the economy... as the Prime Minister (Manu Valls) said recently "we're fcuked if things don't look up in the next 3 to 6 months". The plan now is to try and loosen the purse strings a bit. Of course chasing growth in a moribund Europe may be an illusion.
