Thought I Was Doing Alright

Recommended Posts

ive been saving like mad to buy a house but not quite there by anymeans

anyway today i visited a relatives new house {rented}

they are renting it thru an agent /agent takes 15%

so owner is getting about 500 a month

owner bought this house in 2001 for 85k

ive done my sums assuming he put down 5% what he"s getting back covers the mortgage{repayment}

but only just so i would say its a good investment!

there is another property just up the road similar but not nearly as good

ive looked it up on rightmove guess what its on for 210k and thats already been reduced

so the relatives rented one must be valued at 230k its a lot better

can someone work out how much % this has gone up by for me as im not the cleverest!

this is how bad things really are in my area

its made me realize just how out of kilter things really are

and what a sh@t state the housing markets in

do the sums if you had just bought this house for 230k

see for yourself /just think some poor b@@@st@rd probably has just done this beleiving the hype

incidentaly ive fallen in love with the house its lovely large 3 bed semi with big gardens

only 1 problem i will have to save for 20 years to get it or else there will have to be a large correction!

:(:(

From 85k to 210k is about 150% increase

They`ve got to come down but it`s a case of how far?

You may not see 2001 prices again but have a look at 2003 prices and you may see them at that price before too long.

thats around 120k then

i could live with that !

incidentally this house was for sale apparently for 2 years no takers

guessing it would of had an asking price of 250k

Just goes to show it`s different all over the country.

Around here I am looking for prices to drop from around £90k to £60k ( 2005 price to 2003 price ) which is 30%.

Whereas you are looking for nearer to a 43% drop!! :(

the average wage of my town is about 15/18k

how have house prices got this high? its beyond belief

I agree, this stuff about the average wage being £26k + is a load of old nadgers, I reckon far more people in this country earn less than £20k than earn more than £20k :angry: :angry:

Limpet,

Yes I know all about mean, median and mode , before you all start :rolleyes:

But it doesn`t change the facts!!!
