billybong
Surprising they don't just convert it into broom cupboards and make even more of a fortune. Edited September 25, 2014 by billybong
Mrs Bear
Only watch it while ironing, so not today. What did he pay for it? Was it one of those cases where the buyer has not seen the place or read any of the paperwork, and thinks, 'God, that seems cheap!' , not realising that length of lease is putting other buyers off. Those are always good for a laugh. Would not exactly call it a hovel, BTW, however tiddly and overpriced. longgone
Slightly OT, but the woman who presents HUTH (Lucy?) was involved in making some short web video productions for an IT company I did work for years ago (long before HUTH). On the set she was a complete man-magnet, it was embarrassing to see, guys were falling over themselves to get her a cuppa, a seat, any excuse to talk to her,etc depends if you like dwarfs
MattW
352 paid , the bedroom is so small he had to put two doors in so each person could get out of the room without climbing over the bed ! And another @ the EAs £400k valuations vs the asking price. What's going on with that wall panel inbetween the kitchenette and living room? It's the kind of texture I expect to see in the atrium of a 1970s brutalist building. Or a sci fi TV set from the same decade.
Killer Bunny
So just switched on TV. HUTH on and it's auction time so i didn't switch off. Blonde bimbo medical student just paid £290,000 of her mother's money. 1. £10,000 over their own budget. And £15,000 to do up. 2. £290,000 is £45,000 over top guide. 3. Mum is manager of social workers. Dept at risk of closing. 4. "Maybe this will be a little business." 5. Saw property from outside only before buying. ..."hadn't intended to buy" I hope they lose the lot. winkie
Never watch it.....easy to buy rubbish with money that is not your own and have never earned....a fool born ever minute the bigger fool is those that advance them the funds to buy something the better fool would never contemplate never mind take on responsibility of. £500k could buy anyone a brilliant life for many years....or no life for a greater many years. SarahBell
Watched it this morning. 2011 auctions. Bloke in Cardiff who with his brothers owns over 100 properties bought one. Dormer back and front on posh road, going to sell rather than rent out. Another a girl bid for her mother - to develop but now living in it. And another one that I was probably asleep for. Motor_Blade
Nobody ever loses on HUTH The odd one does, but it is pretty rare. The one that sticks in my mind was a bloke who bought a terrace in Burnley for circa £30,000 & then proceeded to spend about £20,000 doing it up to the proverbial "good standard" (and to be fair it did look good) and was then told it would be worth no more than circa £40,000 - the ceiling price for the area.....FAIL.......the bloke looked gutted......proof that a little knowledge is indeed a dangerous thing. Examples like that don't feature very much as they would kill the propaganda value of the show (i.e. buying property at auction is a sure fire way to wealth & happiness). I reckon a HUTH type show showing such BTL foul ups would be quite fascinating, I reckon there'd be plenty of horror stories out there to make compelling viewing. nome
The ONLY ones that they ever admit to making a loss on are the ones where they've bought to live in ''so the value is irrelevant''... all the ones who are buying as an investment, the flippers or BTLers, they always ensure they re-adjust the valuations to give them a nice fat profit regardless of what the initial valuation was. Caveat Mortgagor
I saw the beginning of an old HUTH over the weekend. I sat open mouthed as Moronic Martin re-enacted a classroom scene as both teacher and pupil. The teacher was asking the 'class' to calculate the profit on a development. The 'clever pupil' worked out it was £2.25m. Seriously, someone at the beeb should be shot for this. Edit: Ive had a look on the web to see if i could find a link to share. I didnt.... But i did find this heart warming story http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/property/74937/TV-star-is-200-000-victim-of-Spanish-property-swindle Edited November 16, 2015 by Caveat Mortgagor
200p
Let's learning something new. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homes_Under_the_Hammerwas created by Melanie Eriksen. Did you know there's been 1017 epidsodes spread over 19 series? That's more than Start Trek The Next Generation! They are producing more episodes that ever in recent years, the peak of which was 2011. I haven't got time right now to graph it, but after 2008, their output of shows doubled - perhaps a reflection of the powers that be to keep the property up? An interesting thought.... “Nasty Piece of work”
Ghastly, cheap television to make and show - it is unwatchable, I've always seen by accident, changed channels immediately, and tried to "unsee".
Bloo Loo
any one watch the program about super yachts last night. The "specialist" sales agents could have been estate agents....for example, enter the gym...This is the Gym...next, we go up these stairs to a bedroom...complete with a bed and cupboards and......... Clearly Bilyonairs have no idea what a gym looks like.. Also, odd, the £150M yacht went unsold....newly built, the Shipyard relied on just one agent to flog it...is this in any way normal?
