Temple Bar is best served in very small doses. It's a tourist trap but there are some decent gig venues in and around it. The standard of pubs is usually better and cheaper in suburban 'villages' such as Rathmines, Phibsborough etc.

Getting around by bike is pretty easy as it's a fairly flat city with a compact centre. You get a critical mass of bikes along primary routes during the morning and evening rush hours.

Dollymount strand is one of the best places in the world for kite-surfing.

If rowing is your thing, I was a member of Neptune Rowing Club, probably one of the best clubs I have ever seen anywhere - very competitive at races but with fantastic social aspect too.
