It would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons and cause a shockwave. With the housing mega bubble teetering on the edge it could well trigger that 50% collapse in prices we have all been waiting for. Phone all your Scottish friends and relatives and encourage them to say YES.

#WellDoneScotland.

I would like independence from London, if they could build a wall around the M25 then we would all be better off.

We will trade in bitcoins and build a toll bridge to let supplies in and keep bankers & MP's out.

English independence form London.

Voted no, although I can see how it could bring about reasonable house prices outside of London.

I am concerned that breaking up countries is not a wise move given the security issues.

Yes, ever since the Normal invasion of 1066 i've been worried about that too.

I wish I could find one of the housing bull threads with the argument "foreigners will always invest in the UK because it's stable politically and economically". Total nonsense of course.

...remember also Alex Salmond has promised a Free Scotland ..free this and free that... some of which they already have but not in England / Wales ...although it's all coming out of the same pot...so better for Scotland and those of us south of the border they pay for it....therefore a yes vote is a must....

Yes. Any assault on the City of London Corporation and its smooth-talking chief salesman 'Dave' Cameron will always get my support. As for the pound? A currency backed by a bubble of phantom equity in the housing market vs a currency backed by enormous, untapped reserves of North Sea oil + gas. No contest.

I also happen to love Scotland. They have nothing to fear but fear itself.

..the same pot is from the total revenue in the UK ...but if you don't think there will be a difference then you are happy ..we are happy....

....after a 'yes' vote the various regions south of the border must press for the 'extra goodies' promised north of the border had their been a 'no' vote....get your notes set up to speak to your MP...and push for them .....

The fact that there is a referendum suggests a significant number of Scots are amenable to change. We need more of this and fewer CPRE nimby types. Hence I voted no. Keep the change agents, and drive change from within......

...not sure I understand your point...

Oh dear when I heard that Scotland has 800,000 mortgage payers I thought what a small little place with no world standing and then about large swathes of the UK.

I don't get this anti London B****** we aren't all bankers or MP's and actually the 99.9999% of us who aren't are getting a little bored with this anti London rhetoric

We just happened to be born here and like it or not we competed with the world and created a city state which the whole country benefits from like it or not.

Be careful what you wish for

As a footnote perhaps we should separate because we aren't English in London in General we are British Europeans or commonwealth cousins with a healthy smattering of our North London Greek and Turk friends.

Edward de Bono ( look him up) once said globally we will have more in common with people who share financial and professional status and live in similar environments I.e world cities

The more I hear the English thing ( what does that mean? Ale, cricket, village gossip ? ) the more his words ring true

You have to protect your one decent economic advantage with that massive Scottish Navy and then ship it or transport it , it's a bit like the Russians wanting the Crimea in reverse without EU status what road tolls will we charge

And they say London is a one trick pony

Voted yes given current circumstances but would have much preferred the Scottish, English, Welsh and Northern Irish to be working together to leave the thrall of Westminster and the City of London (btw the rest of London absolutely does not want to be stuck behind a wall with these people, it's already bad enough having to share a city with them). Whatever happened to no man left behind?

I lived in NYC for a year and while it started off feeling quite similar it ended up making me feel very European and very British. I also think London is probably about as different from each of the regions as they are from each other, so I wouldn't say it was not English, just differently English.
