Gordon Brown Warns Labour Voters Independence Will Only Help Rich

Recommended Posts

Gordon Brown has appealed to traditional Labour voters to reject Scottish independence by warning that the only beneficiaries would be the wealthiest companies and businessmen.

The former Prime Minister said that while the Nationalists “dine out” on ideas of equality, their policies would mean poverty would continue until “doomsday” after separation.

He said Alex Salmond’s plans to cut corporation tax by 3p in the pound would mean money being taken from the pensions and welfare system and being handed to the directors and shareholders of the largest firms.

Although the SNP have promised voters better state pensions and benefits after separation, Mr Brown said the Nationalists could not afford them as they have laid out no plans for raising the necessary extra tax revenue.

He argued that Scottish pensioners receive on average an extra £200 per person in OAP benefits every year their peers across the UK thanks to the Union’s ability to distribute wealth across Britain to where it is most needed. [more at liink]

The rise of the Scottish landed Oligarch...can see this. I think it might also benefit young entrepreurial types, so long as they currently have no skin in the game......savers could be devatstated by flight of capital under a Scottich peso, but taking on business debt to be quickly eroded by hyper inflation might be very smart.

Meanwhile I reckon the precariat would be turkeys voting for Christams...welfare wouldn't be safe.

Edit. Russia has got to be the model for a resource rich country with services that are a bit behind. So yeh it could be winner takes it all economy.

Says the man whole stole a huge chunk of UK pensions to fund his spending? Helping to ensure most funds are now in deficit.

Well thats done it then, Jonah has just cursed the no campaign with his own brand of weird. Whatever he utters, truly the opposite will occur. :)

No mention of the sovereign rights of the Scottish people, it's all about the money to the likes of Crash and his "socialist" chums.
