Monarch Airlines Plans To Slash Workforce By Up To 30%

Recommended Posts

No-one can afford to fly anymore. Or take the train. Pretty soon the British will be like Cubans, confined to the island on which they're born but too poor to explore even that. Viva el socialismo!

Can't help feeling they're on a hiding-to-nothing by taking on Ryanair+Easyjet.

Couldn't they run a premium flight service? Eg all flights can be changed for just £9, taxi pickups for just £25 to the airport wherever you live in UK etc etc. They could then charge an extra 100 or so per ticket. Maybe this is all wishful thinking, but I do know plenty of folk who've gone off Ryanair because of all the jumping through loops and hidden charges.

Monarch staff just deciding to become feckless and lazy and choosing a life indoors with Jeremy Kyle on the telly, and the blinds closed all day to p* off local Tories.

Absolutely crazy, why give up on what you are good at to try and compete with Spivs! utter madness. I've grown up with this airline and family have been apprentices with the Engineering side.

Maybe the new boss should speak to Barbara Cassani

I flew with Monarch 2 years and it was very good.

I tried to fly with Monarch 1 year ago and the flight times were a pain and price 3 times that of Ryanair.

I dreaded flying ryanair for the first time but it turned out to be very good.

I'd not go back to Monarch now so maybe the change in strategy is sensible,
