JustAnotherProle
Its about time dinosaurs like Yell went down really, who needs a directory like this with Internet searches available to everyone? I thought they had folded already actually too, the delivered paper YP (when I ever saw it) just got smaller and smaller and I assumed it just went they way of the dodo! Yeah, they are a bit like the 118 type numbers, this is generally no need for them when you have goolgle on your phone.
honkydonkey
I have family members that still advertise in the YP. This is because there is a large market of elderly, non internet savvy people still out there.
GinAndPlatonic
Years ago there was really only the yellow pages and then the thomson local...Yellow pages charged me around £500 for a boxed lineage ad around 2cmx1cm It did bring in good work but now it is easy to place ads free and also Yell.com do a free service and make attempts to get you to "upgrade" but the free ads are very good and its sfill a brand people go to albeit online now of course. Why the h ell they use the name Hibu...gawd only knows. I believe people are still typing in/searching yell.com
Reck B
Aren't they now called Hibu, or is that their online service? Hibu. I wonder how much they paid some marketing 'genius' to put together 4 letters of the alphabet for them.
Stainless Sam
Another result of being governed from Westminster. Wee Eck will be beating Darling with a Yellow Pages halfway through the next debate. .
Venger
I have family members that still advertise in the YP. This is because there is a large market of elderly, non internet savvy people still out there. We got a new Yellow Pages the other week, and I put it against the old one, and the new one even skinnier by a good 30-50 pages I would estimate. Seems to have been the way for a good few years. Just been to look at it, to check it's not owned by a different entity to Yell... yes... same. hibu email addresses inside... To advertise... m*********@hibu.co.uk Hibu changed their name from Yell in 2012, but then boss Mike Pocock had to admit the new title didn’t mean anything. He said: “It’s just a word. “It doesn’t mean a lot by itself. But when you turn the clock back, neither did Apple and Google and Yahoo.”

Apparently it's the Japanese word for the daily interest rate per 100 Yen: http://ejje.weblio.jp/content/%E3%81%B2%E3%81%B6 ... and perhaps also "genitals".
