Italy Back In Recession - Good Or Bad?

Recommended Posts

I don't know anymore - is it a good or bad thing when a country is in recession. Will the stockmarkets now soar on expected QE or will they tank?

I just don't know anymore.

There was a time when recessions were bad, nasty things.

Having said that, no matter how bad things have got in Italy over the past few decades the Italians always appear to dress and look smarter than us scruffy Brits... and the prices in their restaurants and cafes only ever seemed to go up, up, up.

Bit of a policy dilemma. Germany may be in need of higher rates, Italy needs lower.... Obviously this poses a lovely dilemma that Italy is now in recession with a central bank base rate of 0.5%!!!

What Italy (and other Euro basket cases need) is another currency to trade in.
