A few I've seen recently (based on their listing in the IMDB top 250) and that I've enjoyed.

Untouchable - Beautiful french film that provides moments of humour when tackling a difficult subject.

The Hunt - A Danish film that really makes you think - not easy subject matter.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2106476/?ref_=chttp_tt_124

In a Better World - Great Danish film about a surgeon trying to keep it all together whilst he struggles with family problems in Denmark and civil war volunteering in Sudan.

Populaire - French film about a secretary attempting to become a typing champion

Bicyle Thieves

Tie Me Up Tie Me Down

Seven Samurai

Chocolat

House of the Flying Dragons

You basically have your choice of numerous British, French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese films.

Look for some of the British films from the 1920s through to the 1940s.

Off the top of my head, 3 excellent "forrin" films I've seen in the past year or so:

Headhunters

A prophet

Mesrine (parts 1 & 2)

Headhunters very good.

Not as impressed with a prophet as I thought I would be.

Bullhead I found very good - Belgian film.

Seen all three :) in a similar vein, Cell 211 is excellent IMHO..

I'm sometimes entertained by Hollywoodish films not made in Hollywood

e.g.

The Raid: Redemption

The Good, The Bad, The Weird (one for the Westerns are Awesome thread)

and, of course, Endhiran (nsfw)...

That clip has so many "just when you thought it couldn't get any more ridiculous" moments that I lost count :)

Not sure if all these qualify as"non Hollywood"

In Bruges

Brassed Off

The lives of Others

Live Flesh

Runaway Train (american backers, not sure if Hollywood or not)
