Guest
I'll soon be putting a house on the market for a deceased relative. Has anyone successfully used ebay or an online EA? What are the main cons? Is it worth the extra legwork?
TheCountOfNowhere
I viewed a house that was being down by a self seller. Worked very well, they put a board up. Was listed on rightmove. Arranged view and offers through the online agent. They sold it ( a couple of months ) after FLS started for £100K MORE than an agent ( looked to be sold to a developer ) sold the exact same house across the road 3 months earlier. The land registry said their house was worth £340K....they sold it for £440K. I was amazed and shocked to be honest. However, looking at the process objectively, it was no worse or better than dealing with a traditional estate agent from a buyers point of view. The only think from a buyers point of view i'd maybe be reluctant to view a self sell again as they basically "named their own price", the house was one of the most over-valued i have ever seen....yet someone bought it, so great for the seller. Why more sellers dont save £5K or whatever silly money the agents charge and do this is beyond me.
