24 Hour Live In Care

Recommended Posts

My Granddad requires 24 hour live in care.

What is the best route to get this without getting ripped off?

He doesn't need a nurse, just a carer.

Advertise in a local paper? Are there agencies that provide this service?

Any idea on the costs?

Thanks in advance.

Usually in NI where some one needs 24 hour care that need is assessed by social services and financial help is often available through them (no means testing in NI for care packages). No idea where you are but it probably worth contacting your local SS. Ask for whoever deals with vulnerable adults. Even if your grandad is not eligible for financial help this link will hopefully give you some info.

There are agencies who will do this for you. Over here they start at about 700 a week with additional costs depending on what services are required, help with personal care, outings (if applicable), feeding, cooking, giving medication.

Can't offer much more than that, sorry. If he has a good GP he/she should be able to point you in the right direction for your area.
