Build Your Own Rubiks Cube Solver Out Of Lego

This is the sh1t but does kind of make you think why people don't devote as much energy to things with a commercial application. I love on this the effort that's been put into the look and spectacle of the robot's operation. Using the smartphone camera is very slick too.

Indeed - I can't wait for personal robots that can make a cup of tea, recite relevant poetry, mix a decent drink and wash up afterwards! Perhaps a merger of Siri and Watson with some Google driverless logic thrown in could get finally get us there.

I'm probably just a technophobe but i can't help but think the future is more like Skynet and the Terminator than Star Wars.

They probably do, but we're not sitting here watching it because it's not very impressive. "Hey, look at this amazing video of a robot assembling a toilet!"

That's ridiculous. Over engineered or what.

All you need to do is slide them down a chute into packets.

A while back I saw a similar video from ABB with the same type of robot arm stacking scotch pancakes, they come out of the oven randomly and overlapped on a belt conveyor, a camera system detects the moving pancakes and the robot picks and stacks them into trays at high speed. The actual equipment is not that expensive to buy so is replacing dedicated machinery.
