Firefighter Started Blazes Himself

I remember a similar story where false alarm came in close to the end of shift so they could get the extra overtime. Some manager went to the so called seen of the fire and smelt a rat.

A more reprehensible case here years ago - a retained fireman reporting petrol spills from overfilled car tanks in the summer in order to get more callout payments. The cars in question all belonged to relatives and friends. He was sacked. No police involvement.

I'm sure I posted this before, maybe it got burnt down.

Starting gorse fires is standard "nod and a wink" stuff by retained firefighters or their mates in Cornwall when there hasn't been a "shout" for a while because the amount payable for being on call is miniscule.

I certainly don't condone it in case my previous ?deleted post read like I did.
