Labour Plan To Give Power And Money To English Cities

Recommended Posts

Labour is proposing to give more power and money to English cities outside London and the regions around them.

Under its plans, councils would get to control how they spend extra income generated from business rates.

In a speech in Leeds, Labour leader Ed Miliband will say councils can work together to be "economic powerhouses" leading investment in infrastructure, skills and economic regeneration.

Labour could devolve £30bn in funding for regional enterprise, he will add. [more at link]

Labour non jobs for the boys, diversity officers on 50k per year, tax payers money down the drain, tax, borrow and spend like a drunken sailor in a brothel, out of control immigration and benefit spending, we had 13 years of "labour" economics, do we really want to go there again?

It's a very small start.

Amusing that Westminster chooses to 'give' money back to the regions though as if our money 'belongs' to London.

Doffs cap.

I'm sure the Citeh are hard at work figuring out the best way to steal it back as we speak though.

If they were serious about decentralising power they'd grant more power to local councils, and make more of their duties non-statutory so they have greater discretion.

As this is Labour we're talking about, it's just an excuse for more tax, spend, bureaucrats and politicians.

Labour's election strategy appears to be to announce 1,001 unrelated and often contradictory policies, harvest the fawning praise from the BBC the quietly drop the policy and hope that no-one notices, this will be the same.

This reached a nadir yesterday with Ed Bo11ocks giving a pro-business speech at the same time as Len McLusky was praising Ed Millibrain's radical agenda and spouting the usual socialist drivel.

they might give away money, but rest assured, they have no intention of giving up power.

labour stands for central planning, command and control, and micromanagement

this is why they always fail, and WHEN they fail they can't accept blame, so have to bully people with police state tactics and brainwashing.

always the case with socialism, we've got a choice no of how far down that route we want to go.

they won't give up without a fight....and their ideology is very much "cult" like.

they are very dangerous people, because they can't see they have got it horribly wrong.it's not even a case of denial.

denial implies they have been presented with the facts and don't yet believe.

these people DO believe in what they are doing, it's just everybody else that is out of step with them.

In a speech in Leeds, Labour leader Ed Miliband will say councils can work together to be "economic powerhouses" leading investment in infrastructure, skills and economic regeneration.

So that'll be investment in:

1. Infrastructure = even more ziggy zaggy lines all over the place, even more traffic lights than roads, more CCTV cameras, more signage stating the obvious etc etc etc.

2. Skills = even more young people taking on ever more debt for higher education to take them off the unemployment register and to leave room for overseas workers etc.

3. Economic regeneration = even more debt to fund architecturally grim projects etc.

"Councils can work together to be "economic powerhouses"" = Even More Funding For Cronies.

Labour to bankrupt Northern cities by allowing them to borrow from the City to feed the London monster.

Tories to bleed Northern cities dry and bankrupt them to feed the London monster.

why don't they do something for their working class brethren oop north then?

like open the shipyards again or something?

or would do they get too much on state handouts for that now?

or do they really want them to stay that way?

..of course, a little learning and skills are a dangerous concept for power-hungry socialists to deal with aren't they?, might get a little bit uppity and inventive and decide they've had enough of the system, but will have the means to escape from it if they are too clever.

I very much doubt that those in the higher echelons of the labour corridors of power understand just how much disdain we have for them.they probably just view it as mild cynicism, and will come around in due course.

Wild underestimate.

1) don't even go there..the new motorway bypass they're building near me looks like someone had a proper session the night before they drew the plans( if not during)

..and I'm really not sure what that session comprised of.driving through it I would probably say either super-skunk weed or LSD.
