Can You Offer The Same Amount As Another Bidder?

Recommended Posts

If you know you are in exactly the same position in terms of making an offer on a house as another bidder, is it possible to offer exactly the same amount as a current bidder?

That is, rather than getting into a bidding war, just let the seller decide which bidder to opt for.

Of course. You can offer whatever you feel like. Over, under, 10% less, 50% more, the exact same. You'll have to convince the vendor you offer something over the other bidders though. FTB maybe, no chain, fast completion etc.

I know I'm in exactly the same position as the other bidder in terms of finance and not having to sell a property, so I wouldn't want to offer less than their offer. Maybe I could just emphasise that I would offer fast completion.

All right Possom? :P

You can say whatever you want. Can you offer any proof? An up to date AIP may help. If you haven't got one, do. Solicitor in place? Tell the agents that he/she will be instructed to start searches as soon as your offer is accepted. Are any of the interested parties co-ownership? They do tend to take longer and agents will usually advise the vendors of that.

If this is the house for you, then I hope you get it. :)
