Another Footballer Loosing Out On Property

Recommended Posts

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/former-16000-a-week-footballer-garry-oconnor-3663510

"Former £16,000-a-week footballer Garry O’Connor moves into a £65-a-week council house"

This is the relevant bit....

media luvvies say:

"EX-SCOTLAND star once lived in a £1.3million mansion"

Facts say:

"he sold his £1.3million five-bedroom house in the exclusive Archerfield estate in East Lothian for £950,000."

So, I think you'll find me lived in a £950K mansion.

Lots of talent but total divot. Serious coke habit. Was stopped in a street by police for acting suspicious few years back - he gave a fake name (which is stupid enough) for a well known face - but then proceeded to spell his 'fake' name wrong :)

Couldn't make it up.

He's not complaining, seems he is a bloke who has always worked and made money.

Only people complaining are the locals who think an outsider who has no doubt paid enough tax to fund many of their existences shouldnt get a council house but they should,

Funny how one is only local enough to any specific area when they are being stung by the govt. and their money is given to that area, but not when it comes to getting something back.

PS Its losing not loosing.

I assume he isnt earning £10,000 per week anymore.

I didn't read the article, tbh. Complete non-story by the looks of it then: Man who previously made lots of money no longer has very much. Big wow.

The interesting thing is he only just turned 31. So he has chosen to stop making good money and instead use a council house. That is fairly interesting for a former top player.

Well done Sherlock for assuming that.

Now THAT would be a story...council house for a 10K a week footballer...otherwise, it is a complete non story, except, the press just lurve a good story of failure and schadenfrued...if only football was in the least bit interesting and thought provoking.

Watching football used to be good until the middle class who were always afraid to go because of those nasty working class people gradually started attending and turned it into some sterile event. But the fact it is the worlds favourite sport must tell you that youre wrong to knock it.

And football is a fantastic sport for kids to play and involves plenty of thought.

One can only presume you were talentless as a child and still hold a grudge against the game.

Still at least the money he spunked up the wall was his, the BBC are sending at least 272 people to Brazil to cover this years events.

At a guess Id say with wages, hotels and flights thats 40K per person (not including the big time celebs) being as hotel prices are said to be extortionate for this WC as will an internal flights so 40000 x 272 = 10,880,000 / £150 licence fee = 72533 houses funding the BEEB to have a jolly boys outing.
