Turbans?

Recommended Posts

Yes someone has pointed out in the replies that...

These are the uniforms of British Indian Army. Hindu Muslims and Sikhs all used to have same uniforms. Too many dimwit talking without proper research

Amazing that not more people didn't immediately spot it. I wonder if Muslims did fight on behalf of the British Army during WWII en masse? Obviously there would have been some British born Muslims fighting in our army just as there are today.

They might be Sikhs! Always happy to put on a turban and get a sword out! And they like beer too!

Absolutely they did. The army of British India (India + Pakistan + Bangladesh) fought all through the war and was formed from men of just about every religion going including many muslims.

Im not exactly sure what the point of that FB account is trying to prove...certain islamic groups also sided with the nazis.

Dangle some notes in front of people or threaten them with death or pain and there's a fair chance they'll do what you want them to, be it fight for you or against you.

It seems clear from wikipedia there was far more co-operation with axis forces than with allied forces onthe part of Islam. Maybe thats due to resentment of the British empire, maybe hatred of jews, maybe just good old greed. Or all three.

What any of them were fighting for, given the leader of Britain First was arrested for quoting, er, Churchill, of all people, i'm not sure. It wasnt freedom, that much I know.

And Heinrich Himmler kept a copy of the Koran on his desk and had a Muslim SS battalion in the Balkans.

There are examples and counter-examples throughout history, they mean and prove nothing bar that people are mutable and circumstances change.

Edit from: "Heimlich"! bleedin' auto-correct on the phone <_<

Indeed. We sided with the communists against the Nazis, then went back to fighting them in 1945. Its was OK for Reagan to call them the evil empire, but to call Islam an evil ideology has somehow been misconstrued as Racism.

In 1940 Islam was a lesser threat than Nazism. In 2014, I think you'd have to be fairly bonkers to charge Nazism is a bigger threat than Islam.

Dozens of them all over the moors round here. Many of them are well over 100 metres tall and so can be seen from miles away.

I recently posted a pic on another thread here of Muslim SS officers. They wore a fez.

As for some Arabs being Semitic, like Jews from the Middle East, it is not as if wars fought on racial grounds are rational or backed up by any reasonable idea of what 'race' is anyway. It's all about one supposedly distinct group making a scapegoat of another.

The Moors. Don't get me going abut them. Going all over the place, building Alhambras, etc.....

Was it the dangling of notes - or the fact that their lands were getting stolen by Jewish refugees from Europe?

Yawn. Back to this again, are we? Seeing how the Kingdom of Israel dated back to 1000BC, and Islam wasn't invented for another 1,600 years and then over the next 400 years they forcibly invaded, enslaved and converted at swordpoint the population of Byzantium, Persia, Hispania, Nubia and Levant, while killing as many Jews as they could find, who stole who's land....?

Given that Mohammed was born 570 years after Christ, never mind Moses, I find that hard to believe.

EDIT:The point being, where on earth do you start?

Well I just finished watching El Cid today. So for me, you start a few hundred years after that.

Indeed, a classic example being the Ottoman Janissaries.

The irony is the elite troops of Islam in the later middle ages and early modern times were largely drawn from the Sultan's Christian and European subjects. Apparently, they were regarded as a lot more reliable soldiers than the religious and tribal Ghazis who had predominated in the armies before that time.

This is quite insightful - when you remember that India during World War 2 consisted of Pakistan, Modern day India, and Bangladesh:

The Christians were much less likely to down tools to pray five times a day.

If that was the thinking of Palestinians/ Muslims who sympathised with the Nazis, subsequent history indicates that was an epic fail.

There's some indication that at least a few hardcore Zionists 'approved', that's probably not the right word, of the Nazi regime for exactly the same reasons as the Palestinians/ Muslims did. - Counterpunch: 51 Documents

As already touched upon, if individuals sucking up to Nazis were good cause for damning those individuals' peers then, say, the British Royal Family would be s**t out of luck
