Cafe rouge, Bella Pasta and other brands

Not directly housing related but a national brand with hundreds of restaurants doing this will cause millions in losses.

I was at the auction the other day and a cafe rouge was there, did not sell and the owner was after 6% odd yield.

They are looking for rent reductions of 40% and some closures so I guess its cash only until the situation is confirmed.

When you looking for a commercial investment mortgage most of it is down to the power of the tenant so loads of properties are going to have xx% lopped off their value.

These are often smaller units also so I presume a lot of small and medium investors will be smacked.

Could you explain this all a bit more clearly? I read the FT article, understood some of it, other parts were quite opaque. Strada, Tragus, Apollo...

Essentially, large restaurant chains are rebelling against high rents, right?

They are bust and have said to the landlord we will give you 40-50% of the rent, if you don't except this you are likely to get less than a penny in the pound if we go under

So yes it`s looking like they want the LL to bail them out
