Word On The Street

Recommended Posts

I'm a London renter, looking at moving house at the moment, and so I've been talking to EAs.

At least two of them have said that there is currently a lower than normal volume of rental properties coming to market, because BTL landlords are flogging off their stock to (panicking) HTBers. They also said that the sales departments are referring far fewer new BTL landlords to the lettings department... repeat business which was common practice not so long ago.

My nose is far too clogged with smog to be sure, but I still think I smell something in the air in SE London!

Exactly what a north london EA told me. Landlords selling up, very few houses to rent coming available. He thought interest rates will rise next year and house prices will fall.

Corrected for what I suspect is the truth..

Nice.

I commented a couple of weeks ago about LA's complaining about the lack of new rental properties coming on the market (NI). Yet the number of BTL mortgages are ramping onwards and upwards. Makes you wonder where geographically all the BTL mortgages are being taken on and who is living in all these properties B)
