Sadly we now have thousands of families like this who believe they have a right everything without giving anything,The benefit system is a fantastic system for people in need of help, but sadly it has become a career for many who are quite happy living in this occupation.

Yeah, yeah - we've been over this for years.

Wake me up when the DM starts pointing out the benefits for bankers and property moguls.

You turn a blind eye to one category of people sponging off another just as much as those you chastise for doing the same.

Derek Conway would tell you that if the DM gets the evidence it will attack any sponger

If I remember rightly the scandal was first reported by the mail

Danegeld should never be paid, bluffs should be called. If he goes out on the rob then it should be a lengthy time in jail for him.

He's not stealing from "the rich", he's stealing from people mostly worse off than him. Zero sympathy.

I agree- let's start with the financial terrorists in the city who threaten to bring down the economy if we stop them from robbing us blind.

Mold mold mold. Maybe society can buy them one of these, costs about £3.50...

Brilliant. My place had some mould when I moved in, I went to the supermarket, bought some spray and magically it hasn't had mould since. I also bought a tin of paint but maybe that's just pushing the boat out.

maybe the mould came from the friction and sweat produced evaporating on the walls and ceilings to create those 9 future benefit claimants

It's magic stuff that spray. I have issues with condensation on concrete lintels when it's cold, especially around the horrible blinds that have been fitted. Couple of times a year, I give problem areas a good spraying and they come up like new.

I even fixed a broken plug chain without feeling the need to appear in a Wail article.

Oh, and I pay my rent out of my wages, that I earn.

The solution is obviously a public information film along the lines of "when doing the squelchy, open the window a bit" :)

no my public information film would say , "if you want to produce more benefit claiming vermin of the future please F-off to Romania , now that we are all together in the wonderful EU" that pair of council rats brings the statement of "freedom of movement" to a whole new level.

Look - I supplied this site with live figures on single mum minimum wage workers back in 2007. I was ******ing outraged - a mockery of working effort. I described the bankrupty bailouts, the credit card evasions, the benefits deceptions. I voted UKIP.

Now I see it was just a symptom of the credit system.

The calculations of little people are a trifle. The subsidies and bail-outs for corporates overwhelm everything. Morality and betterment are irrelevant. Talk about sponging and scrounging and striving and shooting a porn-vid with Kirsty in Balmoral - it's just bollorks..

Sure. It's a shame the Left are pathologically incapable of not meddling. When BCCI went down they went down, wasn't gonna happen on Browns watch though.

Ordinary diluted bleach does the same job for a fraction of the cost.....children are expensive, maybe a lesson on how to manage the money they are given as well as cleaning lessons may be in order.

Years ago (30) I knew a professional burglar - by his own admission.

He robbed stuff from the docks. His career stopped when the docks went 100% containters.

I asked him would he ever knick from a person.

He said. in no particular order:

- Most people don't have stuff worth knicking - a £200 item is fenced off at ~1/10th of the value.

- Its not moral, he could not live with himself. What if someone robbed from his mum?

- He would expect to be beaten up and driven out from where he lived.

Claims from benefit people that they'll go robbing should be treat with a big pinch of salt.

Local shops are pretty good and identifying local lifters.

Get caught robbing from someone local and you'll want to go the police to get locked up for their own protection.

Does nothing to invalidate my point, assuming its true. Theres nothing wrong with pointing out the wrong doing of X regardless of whether Y is also guilty of the same wrong doing but to a greater extent.

Again, assuming its true. Be nice to see some numbers. But even if it is true, 'so what', as ed balls would say.

Banksters all over the Western World were bailed out by governments, many to a much greater extent than in the UK (The Republic of Ireland with NAMA and near nationalisation of all the main banks springs to mind here).

Just about the only place there wasn't a full on transfer of losses to the taxpayer was in Iceland, where the public actually stood up and prevented their government from bailing their bankster paymasters out.

Yup. The urge to do something is instilled across the entire western world, there's a reason why the entire western world has activist, meddling, Big Government states. The complete twisting of free market advocates words doesn't help.

Iceland was small enough where the voters could go against the flow. I actually remember in 2008 there was talk of letting banks fail, but it was drowned out on the internet at least by well meaning but fundamentally misguided left wingery. Only the disciples of the likes of Ron Paul argued otherwise and they were derided as nutters.

Next time there's a bank crash - and there will be a next time, it seems to me - just remember.

Is this some of the population growth that I'm supposed to fear that will always cause higher house prices?

In this population-growth = demand = "HPI for-ev-ah future", he won't be the only one looking at alternative ways to make a living.

Prices are set by what buyers can, or are willing to, pay.

50% of housing benefit claimants in my area are pensioners.

I don't really see the point in flagging up exceptional and ugly cases like this.

Aren't there only 28000 families on the 26k a year benefit cap now?

A disgusting exception but not the rule.

Most people on benefits aren't well off or are elderly.

Edit: a Wii is worth what, £15 now? A PS3 about £80ish.

The article actually does point out the dryer etc are bought on credit to be fair.

The Mail needs to try harder. I want their TVs to be made of diamonds and middle-class children's teeth or something before I bite.
