Wurzel Of Highbridge
What the feck has this county come to when you are froced to float a mobile home on a lake because the law forbids you building in the thousands of acres of surrounding grasslands?
brunobald
Wow, you can pickup these for around £30,000. Thats one hell of an expensive mooring site.

Wurzel Of Highbridge
That will be an interesting one to keep an eye on since the cost of sitting on it is very high. Mooring tax = A kind of water value tax.
Blod
Would you have to pay council tax?
renting til I die
What the feck has this county come to when you are froced to float a mobile home on a lake because the law forbids you building in the thousands of acres of surrounding grasslands? It makes you wonder what the asking price would be if this mobile home was moored on land! Total crazy asking price for a boat (in the loosest term) in the middle of nowhere! IMHO, one of the most fundamental comments I have ever read on these boards. That and the Easter Island analogy, where a society pours more and more effort/resource into a non-productive asset (e.g. weird statues/housing) until all that's left is a desolate wasteland. btd1981
There is a spectacular house boat near to Jesus lock, Cambridge. It was in a poor enough state when we left the area almost a decade ago, we were shocked to discover it's still floating now... and appears to be in use. https://www.istockphoto.com/ie/photo/floating-house-on-river-cam-gm898979306-248066388 Edited February 12, 2020 by btd1981
