Fight The Power?

Recommended Posts

I was just posting a bearish comment on the latest piece of property porn in one of our better known daily papers, when I started to wonder why I was bothering.

Does a few angry amatuer economists from HPC bashing the bears/VI's/press regularly on social media, news websites, phone ins etc... make any difference?

I'd like to think, in a tiny *drop drop drip drip* way it does. Every buyer discouraged from taking on a massive debt burden is a small victory in the longer battle for decent affordable housing in the future.

I think it does.

When I think of my own own adult life I think my political views have changed quite a lot over the years, and forums and the like have played a big part of it. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Makes no difference. All people want to hear is '...free money...free money... free money...'.

You're a bit like some trader screaming 'IT MUST FALL FROM HERE' as the stock market just goes on up, and up, and up...

I'm surprised how much my views on certain topics have changed as I've found out more about a subject[1]. However, while opinions on limited topics may have changed, I don't think my underlying values have. So, is HPI-worship closer to being an opinion or a value?

[1] As a very mundane example - segregated cycle lanes and cycling helmets. I instinctively thought these things must be common sense when I started my conversion to becoming a bikie. Forums taught me just how wrong I was.

we are the advance guard.

...basically the scouts telling the officers there is a massive army just over the hill, and boy do they look pissed.

the officers are still stuck in the tent playing bridge and swilling their tots of whiskey and rum, thinking that they will be facing a sporadic random uprising,so prepared to order the charge of the light brigade to quell any civic disturbances.

they can't say they haven't been warned.
