Can't Rentiers Do Anything Right?

Recommended Posts

These bastions of free enterprise are at it again...

I'm guessing this was a hotel that had fallen on hard times and had taken in DWP tenants, rather than the family holiday crowd.

Among things the inspectors found was an illegal electricity supply, collapsing ceilings, fire exits blocked with mattresses, and most of the water supply not working.

Still can't have too much regulation killing the entrepreneurial spirit.

The hotel looks OK from the outside. Many wouldn't think it would be a sh*t tip inside.

Does the owner not have any self respect? I couldn't rent out rooms in a place that bad.

This standard of accommodation would be illegal in Republic of Ireland. They tightened up the legal minimum standards and essentially made bedsits and shared bathrooms illegal.

Yep. The government centrally plans housing so there's a massive shortage, hence some people end up living in crap-holes like this... and the problem is clearly not enough central planning.
