Nimby East Ren Councillor

Recommended Posts

Newton Mearns south councillor Jim Swift: "I object to building on the greenbelt when there is plenty of brown-field land available".

The article doesn't tell us where all this brown-field land is or whether it would be suitable.

He continues: "Building houses where they are not required would create an oversupply.."

I doubt this, otherwise Mactaggart and Mickel (infamous land-bankers), would not be building them.

He then reveals his true objection: "...and stimulate a reduction in local property values in the long run."

You can see him here:

So where are people meant to live?

Good work finding this.

Later this year I will be setting up a small wordpress blog exposing the NIMBYs. I will be adding this to it. The aim of the blog will be to identify individuals like this and publicly name and shame them with a large photo, their position with council/local government, their vested interests and quotes from them.

This would be great! I'm sure many other HPCers will help you find plenty of examples of NIMBY vermin in positions of power.

Sounds like a really good idea.

Any chance it could be called 'Homeowners against Homes' or something?
