Legal Challenge To Rent Plan Starts

Recommended Posts

"The court heard a tenant in Islington would need an income of £43,000 to be able to afford the proposed level of affordable rent in the borough, and rents would exceed the benefit cap across much of the area."

So if it was set at 80% market rate, no one who could actually afford a council flat in Islington would qualify for it? And no one on benefits could afford it?

That is, this is really a plot to abolish London's remaining council housing, surely?
