How To Disappear From The Internet

How to DISAPPEAR from the internet: 9-step guide helps people vanish without a trace and then surf anonymously

Hosting firm created a graphic explaining how to disappear from the web

The nine steps include deactivating accounts and setting up fake profiles

For people who'd rather hide, the guide suggests anonymous searching

The graphic gives step-by-step instructions on how to carry out each task

It also recommends Google’s URL removal tool, and contacting websites

I remain amazed by how much information people freely provide about themselves online. I don't like the term "hide" in the story as I don't see it as being about hiding, but about not wanting corporations to know aspects of your life in detail. I don't for instance have a Nectar card as I don't want somebody tracking my shopping.

I have my doubts about some of these articles....surely the best way to stay private is not to use the recommendations in the public domain in the first place.

next to that I guess someone needs to develop an "assassin" programme....which basically pings a message to the intended recipient...but also looks out for any other "listeners" and sends them a virus in the process.(ie For-your eyes only IP address encryption with booby trap)

that should stop malicious eavesdroppers....the risk of their PC/network crashing.

Most of us.don't need to hide Mr Pin. That doesn't mean we should be relaxed about many details of our lives being freely available to strangers.

Playing guitar left handed - that's quite interesting. :)

I have a mate who never buys fags or booze on plastic.

The theory being that when the "great rationing" comes in XX years, he won't be discriminated against.

However i don't think he will be able to hide the 20 a day lifelong habit from the pulmonary specialists.

I don't know how you remembered that! Most musicians don't notice, because they are only listening! There's no such thing as a left handed G 13 chord! There are people who are "guitar collectors", who value the instrument, far more than what it can do in the right hands, or in my case the other hand! The only problem I have is colliding with the bass player!

IMO he's spot on and I do the same. Health insurers and potential employers may well get this info.
