Land Registry - January 2014

Recommended Posts

Had a quick look for a thread, couldn't find one on the 27th or 28th February. Report here. Link to Land Registry HPI page here.

I assume we had a thread when they pre-released via their twitter field, but I think we ought to have a thread for the monthly report. For forms sake!

Repossessions still tracking down. Volume of sales tracking up. Prices tracking up.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Osborne's nice little credit boom has the legs to get him to the next General Election. Maybe, maybe not...

I'd really like to see the 10 gilt make a little more progress away from the policy rate. If Yellen and her pals at the Fed keep tapering, who knows what comes of what comes? "Help me, Obi-Wan, you're my only hope..." etc...

I suspect that there isn't that much hysterical momentum behind the latest bout of madness and delusion of crowds and that a little tick up in SVRs might well increase the scepticism of would be FTBers enough to bring the present rally in the aggregate statistics to a halt (outside London and the South East). I accept that rates don't solely determine prices, but all other things being equal, higher rates mean lower prices.

London remains London. The bubble's bubble.
