From a FOI

1. How much was spent on Housing Benefit payments for social housing tenancies in financial years:

2010/2011 £3,127,342.21

2011/2012 £6,760,785.78

2012/2013 £7,987,501.31

Please note the 2010/2011 figure is significantly lower due to the transfer of housing stock from Oldham Council to Registered social landlords in January 2011.

This should only relate to properties that are or could be affected directly by what is known as the Bedroom Tax. Please do not include figures for the homeless or B&B's in your reply etc.

The figures below are based on those claims that are currently subject to the under occupancy rule. Oldham council is unable to provide figures for those who could be affected as the council does not hold information on future compositions of households and/or new tenancies for social housing.

2. How many households was the Housing Benefit amount in Q1 for? Please quote for each year.

2010/2011 1659

2011/2012 1862

2012/2013 2040

3. How much was spent on Local Housing Allowance payments for private tenancies in financial years:

2010/2011 £33,576,222.93

2011/2012 £33,569,673.58

2012/2013 £30,018,262.80

4. How many households was the Local Housing Allowance amount in Q3 for? Please quote for each year.

2010/2011 6417
