Looks Like Ids Was Right- Unemployment Is Slavery

Recommended Posts

Europe's Modest Proposal To End Unemployment: Slavery

Having spent weeks talking amongst themselves about the chronic and dangerous rise of youth unemployment in Europe (as we warned here), the Center of planning and Economic Research in Greece has proposed a controversial measure. As GreekReporter reports, the measure includes unpaid work for the young and unemployed up to 24 years old, so that companies would have a strong motive to hire young employees. "Unpaid" work sounds a lot like slavery to us... but it gets better; the report also suggested "exporting young unemployed persons."

Centre of planning and Economic Research in Greece has proposed a controversial measure in order to deal with the problem of increasing unemployment in the country.

The measure includes unpaid work for the young and unemployed up to 24 years old, so that companies would have a strong motive to hire young employees. Practically, what is proposed is the abolition of the basic salary for a year. At the same time the “export” of young unemployed persons was also proposed to other countries abroad, as Greek businesses do not appear able to hire new personnel.

I can't quite follow the logic here- how would unpaid work for the young unemployed mean an increase in the motive to hire them- unless by 'hire' they mean 'exploit'?

The language of the EU becomes more Orwellian by the day.

Return of the 'cattle trucks' it is then. :o

:ph34r::ph34r::ph34r::ph34r:

Absolutely shocking and ideas like this will not help the eurozone out of the deflationary environment they seem to be entering into.

I mean how deflationary would this idea be if implemented.

indeed.

I think ideas like this are going to get the "designers" of this concept rounded up and disposed of.

Just goes to show that the elites that run countries, really don't know where the line is and will push until revolution occurs.

This sort of thing started with workfare in this country, in Greece you are seeing the next stage, it won't end. Once those at the top think they can get away with slavery they won't stop.

I doubt the EU has anything to do with this - its competence is limited outside of discrimination law. Looks like a state government caving to business interests. Well, the Greeks know how to vote I'm sure.

And a slave at least gets accommodation and health care - he's a valuable piece of property.

I'm sure the work camps will follow. Then death camps for the undesirables.

Slavery and mass murder: it's what socialists do best.

Yup that evil socialism that has put most of the planets wealth/assets into the hands of 1%.

Exactly. That's what happens when you let governments steal 50% of the country's income and give it to their mates.

But you can continue to believe that the solution to government cronyism is... more and bigger government... if it makes you happy. If people like you didn't exist, the '1%' would have to create you.

How many houses can you buy on an annual salary of nothing. What happens when we are all in these welfare jobs? Economy seizes?

Unless the current DEBT based system is torn up and its incumbents removed...Barter town! The future is going to change in ways you would never have imagined. Probably something like pre-1950 but with the mobiles, tv, laptop etc.

So-just to be clear- socialism is a system in which the state takes wealth from the workers and hands it over to the rich capitalists?

So why are all these right wing millionaires constantly complaining about socialism and the state- don't they know that the state works for them?

just how dumb are those morons?

The problem with capitalism, socialism or any other form of government is people, they are greedy, lazy, violent and stupid.

Unfortunately the undesirable traits tend to mean the worst people rise to the top.

May I just say it's just some people - not everyone ;)

 Well, it's selective socialism, isn't it? Privatise the profits, and socialise the losses.

The American Randians have really done a bang up Orwell job on the term - it plays to their population's paranoia about commies although in fairness, plenty of previous appropriations of the term have given also poisoned the well.

There also seem to have no idea how big government should be. They say scrap this department which does something like regulate food standards because they should have the freedom to decide how salty their burger (you do, just add salt at the table) is until you point that said department also helps prevent some of the worst adulteration like horse or sh*t in the same burger - with varying degrees of success it has to be said.

If they can shoot rabbits then they can shoot bankers ;)

Alternatively if there is no revolution on immediate application it will only be a matter of time before this sort of program is rolled out in the UK and elsewhere. Cue the European Spring...

You can't have socialism or capitalism when the medium of exchange (money) is controlled by a handful of private corporations.

No country in the western world has had any form of capitalism or socialism since WW1.
