Dodgy Mattress Sold By Major Retailers

Recommended Posts

Program on BBC - didn't catch the start of it but basically lots of furniture sold in uk retailers (tesco, argos, homebase and a sofa company scs I think) are not legal.

They all catch fire really easily.

They have 'fake' labels on.

Which at least one of th retailers said wasn't fake.

I assume they mean "they were real labels with wrong standards labelling on"

...

Utterly mad.

Where were they made?

China.

We have highly regulated production, but largely unregulated consumption. The two are at odds.

Its basically protectionism AGAINST ourselves.

Set up a factory in the UK to sell to the british, you have to pay carbon levies, minimum wages and a Diane abbott clone to come and tick some boxes.

Set up a factory in China to sell to the british, dont worry about any of the above and dump the leftovers in the nearest stream.

I'm glad I bought mine from the factory, then. German pocket springs, apparenlty. Although, Ive no idea where the fillings were made! And they would be the dodgy bit!
